Remembering Barry Thorne

2020 hasn't been the year we expected it to be. Coronavirus has caused many people to lose jobs and income, to suffer poor health and has changed life as we know it. 2020 is also the year we lost our good friend Baz.

Baz has been our bass player for a number of years now, and was an extremely talented musician. He didn't need the music - tell him the key of the song and he can play it. Everyone commented on how laid back he looked when playing, and how easy he made it look.

More than that, Baz was our friend. His wit and humour brought many a laugh, and he would do anything for anyone. He was a genuine, caring soul who had time for everyone. In his spare time he volunteered at The Samaritans in Ware.

Baz suffered from Sickle Cell throughout his life, and recently had a couple of bouts of ill health, spending some time in hospital. He came out in June having beaten Coronavirus, but sadly succumbed to complications related to Sickle Cell on 11th August 2020.

A fundraising page has been set up in his memory to raise money for the Sickle Cell Society. If you wish to donate, please click here to go to the site.

Although Baz has gone much too soon, he has left us with some very fond memories, and many pictures and videos of him in his element performing with us. We will all miss you, Baz. Sleep tight x
